Personal Trainer / Strength Coach

seeking to fill position in November 2025

Vitruvian Fitness is a personal training studio in Wheat Ridge, CO.

We opened in 2010 in the Highlands neighborhood of north Denver, where we built a thriving community before relocating to a larger, purpose-built facility in Wheat Ridge in 2015.

Our Clients: Adults Playing the Game of Life

Our clients are typically professional adults with families and significant responsibilities.

They want to move better, get stronger, overcome life’s obstacles, and improve both lifespan and health-span.

Our functional strength training approach is rooted in purpose and personalized to each member’s needs. It is distinctly not group classes, bodybuilding, powerlifting, or high-intensity CrossFit-style workouts of the day.

The Opportunity

We’re seeking a career-oriented fitness professional who loves coaching and elevating the member experience.

This position covers early morning and weekend shifts, with start times as early as 5:00 AM. Total hours each week are approximately 18–28, depending on schedule and responsibilities.

Applying for this position requires more than a couple clicks. Please read carefully and follow the application instructions at the end.

About You

  • You value professionalism, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
  • And you take pride in the little things that turn an everyday experience into something special.

Experience & Qualifications

You have 2 or more years of experience as a personal trainer or group exercise instructor certified by an accredited organization.

If you’re newly certified, you may also qualify with
2+ years of related experience in teaching, coaching, or hospitality that aligns with our mission of helping adults move better, get stronger, and live well.

Preferred and Relevant Experience

  • Certified Functional Strength Coach (CFSC) certification preferred; other certifications considered based on experience.

  • Demonstrated continuing education and professional development since earning initial certification.

  • Experience coaching adults with injuries, chronic pain, or chronic disease.

  • Familiarity with FMS, TRX, kettlebells, FRC, peri-natal training, or Functional Aging Institute methods.

  • Background in hospitality, teaching, or customer experience environments.

  • Comfortable leading small groups (up to 5 participants).

Attributes That Make You Great Here

  • You’re a lifelong learner who thrives on growth and feedback.

  • You connect deeply with mature adults—many are busy parents or professionals.

  • You maintain a clean, organized, and professional appearance.

  • You’re a clear communicator who can explain complex ideas simply.

  • You’re flexible and can adapt your coaching to different learning styles and personalities.

  • You genuinely care about people and love making them feel seen.

Roles and Responsibilities

Our training model is Functional Semi-Private Personal Training. Each member follows a custom program, but sessions are coached in small groups (up to 5 members per trainer). In your trainer role, 80% of that time is spent training and 20% preparing, following up, and doing light administrative work associated with the sessions you lead.

Your responsibilities:

  • Teach, coach, and lead each client through their individualized program.

  • Provide instruction, encouragement, and feedback throughout every session.

  • Record training notes and communicate relevant updates to the team.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe training environment.

  • Assist with scheduling, check-ins, and client communication as needed.

On-the-Job Training

Our systems are structured and coach-driven. In your first weeks, you’ll:

  • Shadow and co-coach sessions under a senior trainer

  • Learn our assessment and coaching protocols

  • Master our member service and communication systems

  • Understand how we design “wow” experiences in small but powerful ways

As you demonstrate skill and ownership, you’ll transition to leading sessions and managing portions of the member experience on your own.

Software & Technical Skills

You should be comfortable using:

  • Word processing and spreadsheets

  • Email and video conferencing tools like Zoom

  • Texting and phone communication

  • Posting basic social content and event updates

(We’ll train you on our internal systems.)

Every time you pick up a dumbbell or load a barbell, you’re faced with making a decision: How heavy should I go? Too light, and you’re just passing the time and your body never gets the signal to adapt. Too heavy, and you risk poor form or injury. Somewhere in the middle is the “sweet spot” where strength, muscle, bone, and metabolic improvements are stimulated. The question is: how do you find that sweet spot without risking over-doing it or under-doing it. Choosing the right weight can be a tricky process that involves your experience, training history, daily energy levels, focus, goals, hopes, and dreams. That’s where Reps in Reserve (RIR) comes in. If you finish a set of squats and you know, deep down, you could have squeezed out three more reps before you collapsed, that’s 3 RIR.

How Vitruvian’s new partnership with DexaFit Denver helps you fight bone loss, build muscle, and personalize your fitness – starting with real data. Vitruvian Fitness has partnered with DexaFit Denver to bring you three powerful tools for assessing and improving your health: the DEXA Scan , VO₂ Max Test , and Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR) Test . These aren’t gimmicks – they’re scientifically backed ways to track meaningful progress in your training. If you're in your 40s, 50s, or 60s, you're at a turning point where training isn’t just about looking better – it’s about aging better . As the saying goes, “What gets measured gets managed.” And just because that’s a relic from my corporate past doesn’t make it any less true. Like your annual bloodwork, these tests give you a snapshot of important health markers that offer direction, motivation, and a baseline to measure progress against. Here’s what each test measures: DEXA Scan – bone density, lean body mass, and visceral fat VO₂ Max Test – cardiovascular fitness and aerobic efficiency Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR) – how many calories you burn at rest (your metabolic baseline)
