Personal Training
Your program. Your goals. Expert coaching every session.
At Vitruvian Fitness, our personal training is delivered in a semi-private format. You follow your own individualized program and receive expert coaching throughout every session while training in a small group of other members who are getting coached on their individualized program.
Your program is built around your goals, training history, current abilities, movement quality, injuries, and the things you want to be able to do outside the gym. You never have to follow the same workout or keep pace with anyone else.
A coach guides you through every session, helps you improve your technique, tracks your progress, and adjusts your program as you get stronger and your needs change.

How Semi-Private Personal Training is Different from Group Workouts
Semi-private personal training is not a group class where everyone follows the same workout. Yes, you do train alongside a small group of people, but each person follows their own personalized training program.
The person next to you might be working on balance and mobility while you are building strength, returning from an injury, improving athletic performance, or simply getting back into a consistent training routine.
You get the energy and support of training around other people, while your program, pace, and coaching remain your own.
- A program built for you. Your exercises, weights, progressions, and training priorities are based on your goals, abilities, movement needs, and experience.
- Coaching throughout every session. Your coach teaches each movement, watches your technique, helps select the right weights, and makes adjustments when needed.
- A small, supportive training environment. You have room to ask questions, get help, and learn without feeling lost in a crowded class.
- Progress at your own pace. You never have to match someone else’s speed, strength, fitness level, or experience. Your progress is measured against where you started and what you are working toward.
How Semi-Private Personal Training Works
We begin by learning about you. From there, we build your program and coach you through it one session at a time.
01
Start with a consultation and movement assessment.
During your first session, we talk about your goals, health history, past injuries, training experience, schedule, and any movements that feel painful or limited. We also assess foundational movement patterns, including balance, mobility, control, coordination, and range of motion.
That gives us a clear starting point before we select exercises, add resistance, or ask your body to do more.
02
Follow a training program built around you.
We design your program around your current abilities, movement needs, experience, and what you want training to help you accomplish.
Someone returning to exercise after several years may need more time developing movement skills and foundational strength. Others may be ready for more advanced strength, power, or athletic training.
Your program reflects those differences.
03
Get coached every session.
Your coach explains each exercise, watches your technique, tracks your progress, and helps you find the right level of challenge.
As you progress, we will add weight, increase the difficulty, or progress to a more advanced exercise. If something doesn’t look or feel right, we will reduce the load, change the range of motion, or choose a different movement.
Your program continues to evolve as you get stronger, move better, and develop new goals.

What Happens During a Semi-Private Training Session?
Your coach and your workout are ready when you arrive, so you are never left wandering around the gym or trying to remember what you did last time.
After a brief check-in, your coach gets you started and guides you through the program planned for that day. You train alongside a small number of other members who are following their own programs, while your coach moves between each person to demonstrate exercises, check technique, select weights, answer questions, and make adjustments as needed.
A typical session includes:
- A quick check-in about how you are feeling that day
- Movement preparation for the work ahead
- Total-body strength training from your personalized program
- Coaching on setup, breathing, control, and technique
- Adjustments to the exercise, load, or range of motion when needed
- Progress notes that help guide future sessions
You still get the energy, encouragement, and community that come from training around other people, but the workout itself remains focused on you.
Strength Training Is Actually More Than Just Lifting Weights
At Vitruvian Fitness, we think of functional training as training that improves your ability to meet the physical demands of life outside the gym, from everyday tasks to recreational and competitive sports.
That means developing more than strength alone. We also train the mobility, balance, coordination, control, and power that help you use that strength effectively.
The exercises in your program may include squatting, hinging, pushing, pulling, carrying, rotating, and getting up and down from the floor.
The goal is to build the physical qualities that carry over to the things you actually want and need to do, whether that means climbing stairs, carrying groceries, hiking, skiing, riding a bike, playing a sport, or staying independent as you age, not simply to get better at those exercises.
Strength is part of the picture. What matters most is what that strength allows you to do.
How We Customize Your Semi-Private Training Program
We build your program around how you move, what you have done before, what you are ready to do now, what tends to bother you, how often you can train, and what you want your training to help you accomplish.
Your goals help determine what we emphasize. You may want to get stronger, add muscle, improve athletic performance, prepare for ski or cycling season, return to an activity after an injury, or simply feel better prepared for the physical demands of everyday life.
Your training history and movement assessment help us decide where to start. A beginner, an experienced lifter, and a recreational athlete may all want to build strength, but they may need very different exercises, loads, progressions, and coaching.
Our assessment is about helping us make better training decisions, not judging your body or comparing you to someone else.
Customization continues as you train. As you get stronger, improve your movement skills, or develop new goals, we adjust your exercises, weights, training volume, and difficulty so your program continues to move forward.

Frequently Asked Questions About Semi-Private Personal Training
What is semi-private personal training?
Semi-private personal training combines an individualized training program and professional coaching with the energy and camaraderie of training alongside a small group. Everyone follows their own program, works at their own level, and receives coaching throughout the session.
How is semi-private personal training different from a group fitness class?
In a group fitness class, everyone generally follows the same workout. In semi-private personal training, every member follows an individual program based on their goals, abilities, experience, and progress. The person beside you may be doing completely different exercises, using different weights, and working toward a completely different goal.
How many people train at the same time?
Our coaches work with up to five members at a time. Each person follows their own program while the coach moves throughout the group to teach exercises, watch technique, select weights, track progress, and make adjustments.
Is semi-private personal training appropriate for beginners and experienced athletes?
Yes. The whole point of individualized programming is that people with very different starting points can train successfully in the same environment. We coach complete beginners, experienced lifters, recreational athletes, and current and former competitive athletes.
Your program and the level of challenge are based on you, not the other people in the room.
Can you adjust exercises for injuries, pain, or physical limitations?
Yes, when strength training is appropriate. We consider previous injuries, current limitations, and movements that cause discomfort when designing and coaching your program. Exercises, loads, ranges of motion, and progressions can often be modified so you can continue training productively.
Personal training does not replace medical treatment or physical therapy, and we may recommend an evaluation by an appropriate healthcare professional when necessary.
How often should I train?
Most members train two or three times per week. That is enough frequency for most people to build strength and make consistent progress while still allowing time for recovery.
Your ideal frequency also depends on your goals, schedule, training experience, other activities, and how well you recover.
How much does semi-private personal training cost?
New members begin with our $199, 30-Day Trial. It includes a one-on-one onboarding and assessment session followed by eight coached semi-private strength training sessions, for a total of nine visits.
The trial gives you a full month to experience our coaching, learn the training format, and decide whether Vitruvian Fitness is right for you. Afterward, memberships are based on how frequently you want to train.
